Dip strips

The simplest single-drug test: dip the strip into the collected sample to the marked line, lay it flat and read it.

Dip cards

The same test on a card with a handle, easier to hold and to label for each donor.

Cartridges

A cassette that takes a few drops of urine from the pipette included, for sites that prefer not to dip.

Pregnancy tests (hCG)

hCG strips and dip cards, often run alongside drug testing in treatment programs.

Adulterant strips

Check a urine sample for signs of dilution, substitution or tampering before you read the drug result.

Multi-panel cups

Drug-checking strips (not for urine)

These test a small amount of a powder dissolved in water, for harm-reduction programs. They are a different product from the urine tests above.

How to read the result

Negative
Two colored lines appear: one in the control region (C) and one in the test region (T) for that drug. A line in T of any intensity, even a faint one, means negative for that drug.
Preliminary positive
Only one colored line appears, in the control region (C). No line appears in the test region (T) for that drug. This means the drug may be present at or above the cutoff level.
Invalid
No line appears in the control region (C). Discard the test and repeat with a new device. If it happens again, contact us.

Always follow the package insert for the specific test. Preliminary positive results should be confirmed by a laboratory using GC-MS or LC-MS/MS.

Questions about drug test strips

What is a drug test strip?

A single-drug urine test. You collect the sample in a cup, dip the strip to the marked line for the time the package insert gives, lay it flat and read it. A dip card works the same way with a handle; a cartridge takes a few drops of urine from a pipette.

Which drugs can you test for with strips?

We sell strips, dip cards or cartridges for 39 drugs, including Kratom, Alcohol (EtG), Fentanyl, Dextromethorphan (DXM), Nicotine (cotinine), Ketamine, Psilocybin (mushrooms) and Xylazine. The table lists every drug with its cutoff.

When should I use a strip instead of a cup?

When you need one drug only, or a drug your cup doesn't cover. Many programs run a multi-panel cup and add a strip for EtG (alcohol), fentanyl, kratom or a newer drug such as xylazine or nitazenes.

Are drug test strips CLIA waived?

19 of our single-drug tests are labelled CLIA waived (Pregnancy (hCG), Fentanyl, Marijuana (THC), Cocaine, Buprenorphine, Benzodiazepines, Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, Methadone metabolite (EDDP), Methadone, Oxycodone, Barbiturates, Ecstasy (MDMA), Opiates and Propoxyphene). CLIA waived means the FDA has categorized the test as simple to perform. A site that uses waived tests for clinical purposes still needs a CLIA Certificate of Waiver from CMS and must follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Can these strips test a powder or pill?

No. Urine strips are made for urine. Drug-checking strips are a different product: they test a small amount of a powder dissolved in water. We list them separately below.

Do positive results need to be confirmed?

Yes. A positive result on an instant test is preliminary. Before any legal, employment or clinical action, have the specimen confirmed by a certified laboratory using GC-MS or LC-MS/MS. 12 Panel Now isn't affiliated with a specific laboratory, so customers arrange confirmation testing independently.

How much do drug test strips cost?

From $0.29 a test at 20,000+. Every test has a volume price ladder on its product page.
